Sister Mutchler to receive Committed Heart Award

Former Executive Director and Board Member to be honored at Spring Luncheon March 26

While Sister Margaret Traxler was the visionary behind the creation of the Institute of Women Today, her successor Sister Ruth Mutchler provided the executive leadership necessary to sustain and grow what Margaret started. Because of her thoughtful and strategic leadership from 2001-2004, she is this year’s recipient of The Committed Heart Award to be presented at this year’s Margaret Village Spring Luncheon.

Recognizing Sister Ruth’s previous administrative leadership as a school principal and director of St. Catherine’s House for Women in Milwaukee, Sister Ruth, in conjunction with the IWT board, developed an organization structure at IWT that solidified Margaret’s vision of providing aid to needy women.

”IWT could have fallen apart after Margaret’s death. One of my goals as director was to develop the next generation of leaders to move IWT forward. This included recruiting and hiring Angela Hicks,” she said.
