Dr. Laura Streicher Visits the Women at Margaret’s Village

How many times have you been in a doctor’s office wanting to ask a question, but you just didn’t feel comfortable enough to inquire? The women at Maria Shelter recently participated in a round-table discussion with Dr. Lauren Streicher, Medical Director of the Northwestern Medical Center for Sexual Medicine and Menopause. Dr. Streicher, a Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, has written several books on women’s health and her informative and direct approach on medical issues has made her a frequent guest on programs such as Dr. Oz, Good Morning America, Today, The Steve Harvey Show, and a regular guest on WGN.

The residents from Maria Shelter were able to ask Dr. Streicher any question (or write down questions, if preferred.) Bringing a bag of chocolates to share, Dr. Streicher answered each and every question in detail, debunking myths, and offering the latest medical information on topics ranging from hormones, to menopause, to sex. Dr. Streicher also gave sound advice on selecting doctors and improving those often dreaded annual exams! Without a doubt, her presentation has empowered the residents to become active and informed participants in their medical care.

Thank you to Dr. Streicher for providing this invaluable service!!
